Exploring Our Nature

The journey of yesterday continues and on this leg we will explore what constitutes Mental and Psychological Thought Patterns; and the role they play in hindering healing. Every one of us came into this world with some form of feeling. Some are acquired while in the womb, others through the birthing processes, and during various stages of development. These feelings have their unique language. Because of their uniqueness, it becomes a challenge to effectively communicate the why, what and how we feel. The inability to communicate feelings leads to suppression and according to Karol K. Truman, “Feelings Buried Alive Never Die..” They in turn constitute patterns that hinders the body from doing what it does best….self-healing. Emotional and psychological issues, if not acknowledged, may create some erroneous programming that manifest in the following patterns:

  • Fear of anything

  • Self-hatred

  • Unforgiveness

  • Resentment

  • Guilt

  • Inability to trust self / others

  • Distorted sense of self

  • Abandonment

  • Apathy

  • Anxiety

  • Apprehensive

  • Anger

  • Shame

These are just a few examples of feelings that can negatively affect health and wellbeing if not properly addressed. Why do these affect health?. They affect our state of wellbeing because they are energies that are constantly in motion even if we don’t know it; they do impact us. The power of emotion should never be under-estimated. Emotions such as anger, hate, resentment and a desire for revenge are so powerful that they can negatively impact us mentally, psychologically and physically. It does color the way we see things, preventing us from effectively seeing them in the right perspective and reacting appropriately. Insight into what constitutes these patterns is our first step to helping our bodies in its healing process. Being aware that the inability to identify these emotions and address them sets us on a downward spiral that that negatively affects our wellbeing. These feelings or patterns, without realizing it, become stuff that we carry around and they in turn determine our everyday decisions and actions causing us to become dysfunctional in everything we do. Why is that?. This is because they influence us at the subconscious level… meaning we are unmindful of the impact they exert. You may ask, how then can we address these patterns? The answer is first to become accountable for you, acknowledging that you could be responsible for the problem and illnesses.

It is now time to gain back ‘Your Power of the Moment’, being fully aware that the ‘Point of Power is in the Present Moment’. NOW is the time, because the next minute or tomorrow is never guaranteed. Encourage yourself that change starts now even as you are reading this blog. Note that it is now irrelevant how the negative patterns, illness, rotten/toxic relationships, self-hatred, and lack of finance have been embedded. It is time to take the bulls by the horns and begin self-introspection by listing the patterns, addressing them and “sending them forth”. The sending forth is releasing them, and then follow up with replacing them with positive affirmative words. For instance, we speak words like ‘you know me, that’s the way I am, it runs in the family’ should be reworded with positive affirmation. Here are some examples of affirmative words:

  • Excessive appetite could arise from fear, needing protection, and judging the emotions wrongly..…say out loud to yourself… I am safe, my feelings are normal and acceptable.

  • Appendicitis can result from fear, the fear of life blocking the flow of good. Affirmative word is; I am safe, I choose to relax and let life flow.

  • Asthma…its probable cause are; Smother love, Inability to breathe for one’s self, feeling stifled and suppressed crying. Affirmative words includes; It is safe now for me to take care of my own self, I choose to be free.

  • Hemorrhoids probable cause are; fear of deadlines, anger of the past, afraid to let go and feeling burdened. Affirmative words includes; I release all that is unlike love, there is time and season for everything I want and desire to do.

  • Joint problems represent changes in direction in our life journey and the ease of movements. Positive affirmations are; I easily flow with change, My life is divinely guided and I am always moving in the right direction.

The reason for this is because there is power in our words and thoughts for they create experiences. Furthermore, there is connection between our thoughts and different parts of our body and physical dis-ease association.

It is time to stop playing the blame game for what is wrong in our lives and body because things happen to us and not for us. Let’s determine to avoid creating negative thought patterns that translate into future disease. Recognize that there is a need for every condition. For example, if we are inflexible, having a rigid mindset on some things repeatedly could lead to a condition known as ‘stiff-neck’. Again, long held feelings of resentment can fester and eat away at one’s self which in turn could lead to tumor and cancer formation. Guilt always seeks punishment that can eventually lead to constant debilitating pain.

Finally, it is important to note that a plant is as healthy as the ground in which it is planted; so don’t cut these patterns when identified but uproot them. Doing so will portend to their death and, as soon as this is done, healing will spring forth and manifest in the physical! Like I love to remind myself that ‘ the body speaks’; it is now time to listen and address its demand for wellness.
